I have been working on a craps strategy at home that aims to squeeze the house odds against the house. I tried out the new strategy at BODOG's free online craps game. They give you $1000 dollars to have fun with, and I run the pot up to $3000 with my new strategy.
You start off on the Pass Line with your $10/$20/$25 bet. Don't start off until a seven has cleared the table. You best odds on the pass line begin right after the seven has been rolled. You also play the field on the first roll. You lose advantage against the house on the seven and the eleven, but you are going to make money in this strategy on the point, not the beginning roll. The 11% advantage that the shooter has on the come out roll is mitigated by the fact that statistically the come out roll happens only 1/6th of the time and only affects the outcome of your bet 1/3 of the time.
The best odds are on the 6 and the 8 if you are playing the Pass Line. On Bodog I took free odds on the 6 and the 8 on twice the bet. If you roll a 10, 9, or 4, you can loose the Point and break even. Statistically, the chances of rolling a 10 or a 40 is 33 percent. Your chances of rolling a 9 is forty percent. Where you squeeze the odds against the house on this strategy is by making a Don't Pass after the first point has been made. If you feel comfortable giving odds on the point made in the second pass, double your free odds bet on the 5, 9, 6, and the 8 when you are in the Don't Pass Lane. On the 10 and the 4, the odds of hitting these numbers are pretty high in the second pass. You might want to ride out the bet without giving odds on these numbers.
Remember, Craps is a game where you are scheduled to lose you money on the sixth roll of the dice. The collective odds of making any point is 3 to 2 against you. The house has a ten percent advantage against you once the first point has been made. Once the point has been made, the odds of rolling a seven on the come out roll of the second pass increases, but the odds also increase in favor of the house proportionally that a seven will be rolled before a second point has been made. By switching your strategy once the first point has been made, your odds against the house should switch in your favor.
On BODOG, I though that I lost too many times on the 6 and the 8 on the first come out roll, so the test run of my new craps strategy at BODOG was probably a fair test. Artificial intelligence can adapt to your play and still give you correct odds on the seven and the eleven.
