Graphic files take up space, but computers and graphic cards are becoming more and more powerful. In today world of information, you are competing for attention, and the old file format for graphics, the JPG format, does not really stand out as a presentation medium. Also, the JPG format washes out over time, as more and more data is lost and changed though use and exchange.
